Abstract Material processing with pulsed lasers has been an important investigation field after the first laser deep drilling application in 1967. A laser micro-manufacturing device has important characteristics such as high power, high pulse repetition rate and variable definite pulse duration and pulse shape. It can be used in deep graving, heat treatment and special microstructuring applications which needs high power requirements and short processing times. There are self-adjusting and high performanced scanning modules that adjust their scanning speeds according to high pulse repetition rates in special developed models. Thus micro-machining can be performed especially for heat sensitive materials with reduced manufacturing times. The aim of the present manuscript is to give beneficial information about laser micro-manufacturing applications and evaluate the rapid development of laser micro manufacturing techniques which classified in energy-auxiliary processes by Brinksmeier.
