Abstract In this study, mechanical properties of shot peened AA1050 and AA2024 materials were determined. Shot peening applied for different aims to engineering materials is a mechanical surface treatment method. Shot peening treatment was applied to the aluminum material that have high corrosion resistance, low specific mass and widespread usage. Different samples were prepared for determination of the mechanical properties, experimentally and shot peening was applied to all prepared samples. Shot peening was applied as single-side and two (double) side of prepared sheet shape samples. S230, S330 and S460 steel balls were selected and used for shot peening process. It was determined that the effect of shot peening on the tensile and yield strength of peened samples is not as high as to be considered. Changes in bending angle were observed according to material. Partial decrease in the bending angle after shot peening treatment.
