Abstract In this study, an internal combustion diesel engine piston (AlSi) is considered. Contact surface of internal combustion engine piston is coated ESD (Electro-spark Deposition) method using with Ni electrode and a simulation program was used for its thermal analysis simulation. The computer-aided modeling program, Solid Works software was used to carry out 3D modeling of the coated internal combustion piston. Mesh models made of suitable material assignment is generated on the coated piston and plated surface with the help of the software module. Thermal analysis results were examined by comparing the thermal behavior of the uncoated piston and coated piston, in addition, X-ray, SEM and microstructural analysis results of coated and uncoated samples are evaluated.
