Abstract In this study, effect of shot peening on the thermal conductivity values of the heat transfer coefficients () of the aluminum alloy was determined experimentally. Heat treatment to samples prior to shot peening, was applied. S230, S330 and S460 steel balls were selected for shot peening process. Thermal conductivity values peened single-side and two (double) side of samples was measured. In measuring thermal conductivity values of peened and unpeenned AA2024 material, the value of thermal conductivity values peened sample was seen lower than that of unpeenned sample. Also, thermal conductivity values peened sample of AA2024 material was varied according to the ball diameter in peening process. When thermal conductivity values of AA2024 materials measured S230, S330 and S460 ball diameters are examined, the value of thermal conductivity of peened AA2024 material with S330 ball diameter was found to be lower than others. Another factor on the thermal conductivity values of AA2024 material: Subjected to the shot peening process of single-side AA2024 material it has been found to be important with respect to the heat transfer direction.
