Abstract In this study, the effects of different ratio water injected to a SI engine with thermal barrier coated on engine performance and exhaust emissions has been investigated experimentally. The water, using an electronically controlled injection system at the intake time is carried out into the engine intake manifold at rate of 10%, 20% and 30% of engine fuel mass. The piston crown was coated at the 4mm width with high heat reserve characterized Y203 ceramic material for thermal barrier coatings. As a result of the thermal barrier coating, the engine performance parameters is improvement according standard engine date, to decreases considerable rate at the HC emissions and. NOx emissions was increased due to increased temperature inside the cylinder with thermal barrier coated piston. The water injection was carried out to engine in different ratio for reducing the increased NOx emissions. Engine test at full load conditions in 1600, 2000, 2400, 2800, 3200 and 3600 rev/ min was carried out in the engine speed gradually. In case the thermal barrier coated engine water injection, based on the standard condition and is identified as both engine performance improvements in both emissions. In case of thermal barrier coated engine to the water injection done, engine torque and effective power increase 4.6% according standard engine date. Specific fuel consumption, HC emission and NOx emissions sequentially decreases 4.5%, 30% and 26%. Keywords : Thermal Barrier Coated, Water injection, Engine performance, Exhaust Emissions.
