Abstract In this study, wear behaviour of glass and carbon fiber reinforced composite rods that has quite a lot of usage nowadays were examined, depending on the weight loss. The wear test experimental setup was prepared to determine wear loss. By connecting to the prepared experimental setup lathe machine, weight loss of 10 mm diameter and 25 mm length prepared glass and carbon fiber reinforced composite rods were determined in different loads (5, 10 and 15 N) and sliding distance (245, 490 and 730 m). Also, wear areas were examined with optical microscopy. It was seen that both load and sliding distance caused to increase of weight loss. It was determined that weight loss occurring on carbon fiber reinforced material was less than weight loss occurring on glass fiber reinforced material.
