Abstract One of the alternative renewable fuels, biodiesel has become popular nowadays. Vibration is one of the important characteristics of the diesel engine. The aim of this study is to show the effects of biodiesel and petrodiesel fuel blends on a single cylinder direct ignition diesel engine vibration. The fuel type that generates the minimum vibration for the test engine was determined from fuel blends. The biggest vibration value was obtained in the axial direction while the minimum vibration value was obtained at the lateral axis for all fuel blends. Engine vibration value was increased depending on the engine speed for all fuels. The biggest vibration total value was obtained with the Ab15 fuel blend. The smallest vibration total value was obtained with the Ab50 fuel blend. It was found that the maximum vibration values were obtained from channel Ch2 in the axial (y) direction. Moreover, the minimum vibration values were obtained from channel Ch1 in the lateral (x) direction on a time domain. Keywords : Diesel engine, biodiesel, vibration
