Abstract In this study, a web based distance education platform was developed in order to teach mechanics and machine elements graduate level lessons. The aim of this study is, to train more students in minimum time. In the developed platform, Visual Studio.net programming language and Macromedia Studio software were used. The platform can be easily used by the lecturers and it has various modules such as lesson management, adding and removing of lesson contents. In the developed platform, different communication applications such as forum, bulletin board, survey, chat and email were developed and used in the system. By using this platform, the lessons can be taken by the students and; homework and exams can be evaluated by the responsible lecturer. Therefore, formal education of the graduate level lessons in the mechanics and machine elements department can be trained by this platform.
