Abstract In automotive industry, fixture production used for sheet metal assembly in body manufacturing and other applications can be provided in the competitive fields of today by a planned automation and standardization of works, which need rapidness, quality and cheapness. Number and the position of supports establish geometric constraints on parts on fixtures determine their deformed shape and affect their dimensional quality. The purpose of this paper is to find and determine the optimal support points where deflection is minimum, for it is formed due to the weight of sheet metal parts joined together by welding process in fixture. In this paper, software of optimization of fixture points has been developed. Sheet metal part is using in automotive sector have been investigated for joining with welding operations. Optimum fixture points hand on in sheet metal part. In conclusion, results obtained has investigated and software of developed has determined applicable in automotive sector.
