Abstract In this study, the effect of braking characteristics using zeolite from raw materials known with the important features is investigated. Zeolite, chemically known as hydrated aluminosilicate, was powdered and used as an additive for the brake pads. A series of experiments were performed to determine the friction performance of manufactured specimens. The results showed that although average friction value was low in general, the variation of the friction coefficient with effect of temperature was close to stabile and thermal resistance was found to be high. Thus, the positive effect of the zeolite powder was determined on braking performance.
